The masks are participatory mediums, technologies, motifs, and semiotic, multidimensional vessels that enable individuals to embody “otherwise.” They remove individuals from the definitive boundaries of hu-“man” to human other, as coined by Sylvia Wynter, allowing people to participate in and engage narratives through an empathetic, playful lens.
Inspired by the symbolic, transient power of African masks and the participatory, engaging capabilities of comic book superhero characters. XKEPTIC WRLD harnesses these potentialities to reanimate and re-represent the archives.
Just like Spider-Man “Anybody can wear the mask”. Xkepticwrld extends this “To create a possibility that is in reach, taking the idea of “what if” together with “and if” to create layered possibilities that remove narrative from one dominant ideal.”
